Ah, see, I'm just an addict. It's tough having a computer in your very small residence room. It's always THERE. Just WAITING to be used. Alas.
I saw and commented on your review!

Thank you!
I don't know what a Bar exam is. Might be it. Here it's called 'Erstes Staatsexamen' (means 'First Stateexam') After I'm done with it I'll have to work for a judge, a district attorney, a lawyer and in an office that has something to do with law for 21 months and then I'll have to take another exam, the 'Second Stateexam'. It's a pretty stupid system in Germany. It takes ages to get it done and become a lawyer (or a judge/district attorney). Not that I want to be one anymore, but it's too late to do something else, so I'll somehow have to pull through. I'll go for an office job when I'm finally finished, that'll suit me better than being a lawyer. Standing in a courtroom every day is so not my cup of tea. |

Oh, wow. That IS a different system. I mean, as far as I know, here you do your LSATS during your undergrad, and they help determine whether you get in to law school. Law school takes 3 years to get your diploma. And at the end of it, you have to take this big exam, which I'm pretty sure includes an oral exam. Often, people end up working in law firms with older, more experienced lawyers, but sometimes they don't. And eventually you can be asked to become a judge. (REALLY eventually...) And in that instance, you have 24 hours to decide, and once you've made your decision, it's done. If you become a judge, you are forced to drop all your cases, etc without notice. And you can't touch them again.
Teaching, on the other hand...the hard part is getting in. And then it's one year and you're sent out on your own to get a job. Lucky for me, I'm pretty sure that if I can get in and get my BEd, I'll be able to get a job with the school board in my hometown. It's not ideal by any means, but if I have to live with my parents for a bit until I make enough cash to move somewhere else, I'll deal. Might go for international teaching, too. It's all so up in the air. Leaving school terrifies me.
