I remember him from DOOL and, of course, DA. Then came Smallville. I agree that I liked Jason more as he became "darker" toward the end. Started crushing on him a bit. LOVE Dean - so much like Alec from DA, but a little more grown up.

I have to agree that he embodies his roles. He, honestly, is #7 on my top ten list of actors (a list that includes Tommy Lee Jones and John Lithgow among others - not exactly "pretty boys").

To be on MY top ten list, you need to be able to do drama and comedy and BE the role. Not - oh look at how good JA is in this role. He IS the role. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic actor.

Okay, yeah, he's hot. I won't mention any body parts since we aren't supposed to - like for example his truly awesome ass. Instead I'll just say again that he really is a fantastic actor and he's still pretty young (I really should NOT be having such dirty thoughts about the boy) which means he's got time to get BETTER. If that's possible. He's just incredible right now.

In the episode "Heart?" That flinch at the end and the single tear drop? MASTERFUL!!! Truly, truly a masterpiece. And holy rusted metal, I don't think anyone can doubt that performance in AHBL2. Sheesh! And his comedy is just fantastic. Truly love his expressions - and his performance in Season 3 (okay, eps 2 & 3 of season 3 - what the crap was up with episode 1? Everyone but Jim Beaver seemed to be off their game), especially Bad Day at Black Rock - fantastic!!!

Rolling Eyes Call me slow or whatever, but I didn't even notice Jensen's good looks until I was way long hooked by the show. His acting ability is simply so good that you really see the Dean character and not JA. Of course, in a lot of the shows he is covered in mud, blood, or some other muck! And the lights are always out, hence the great need for flashlights in SN.

Jensen would be great as a follow-up to Bruce Willis in the Die Hard series. I saw "Live Free or Die Hard" recently, and it was really great. Bruce Willis is getting older, but he was great. Maybe Jensen could be introduced as a new side-kick partner (that John McClain doesn't want), and then John could get killed dramatically (in the line of duty) and Jensen could take over as the "Lone Ranger" with revenge on his mind! Sounds like a great movie! I would hate to see the "Die Hard" series end--it should go on like "James Bond".

The other idea for Jensen as Indiana Jones would be utterly brilliant. I can just see him in that leather jacket and hat--and don't forget the whip! Jensen certainly has the ability to make the wise cracks and facial expressions of extreme fear, shock, etc. needed by Indiana Jones.

Jensen would also be great as a street-wise cop in a TV series or movie. Maybe a calmer, more gentle approach as a reprisal to the "Dirty Harry" series Question Question We can't have too many abusive cops--the people might have a riot in LA or somewhere Exclamation Exclamation

Oh, and here's my best idea--but it's for a commercial, which Jensen may not want to do. He could appear on an ad for American Express (credit card) and explain how AE protects it's customers from credit card theft Laughing Laughing Jensen could give one of his charming smiles, and then show a credit card with his signature Laughing I know Jensen could pull this one off easy, and probably make some big $$ doing it Exclamation OK -- so I can't relate to the long red-haired snow boarding dude who is doing their commercials now--maybe AE would attract a different market --after all, I don't have one of their cards Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Has everybody been on vacation since June Question Question

Well, I noticed him in DA first and at the beginning I just liked him because of his great looks but slowly I started realizing what a fine actor he was and wanted to see him in other projects, and that's how I got into SN. I love Alec but I must say Dean is such a complex and beautiful character! One of the best movie/TV characters actually. And I think Jensen as Dean can show almost all of his talent. What a great role and opportunity for him!

I think Die Hard series is already on the list. The same with Indy. Not sure with the street-wise cop, I must check on this one. Great idea.

That commercial idea is pretty funny. Wink

I first saw Jensen in Smallville, and actually thought he was too pretty! I wasn't a fan of his at all ----UNTIL ----- when he started to get evil on Smallville I noticed that I liked him better. He didn't look so pretty, and he wasn't going ga ga for Lana.

I never really noticed what a spectacular actor he was until Supernatural. Then, of course, I had to go out and buy Dark Angel, and npw I'm a 100% bona fide Jensen Ackles-aholic.

Love his freckles too! OK - I had to mention something about his good looks!

I haven't seen all of S4 Smallville yet. But I also thought Jason was too nice and perfect at the beginning.

I think what you have said shows pretty well how his looks influences the way people perceive him. Like he needs to work harder for people to notice him and recognize his talent, not just see another pretty face.

Yes, they're very cute just like Jensen himself is but let's try to discuss his acting abilities in the first place. Wink

I heard someone say on an old podcast that they loved his arm (the little bit that showed) in BUABS (where Jo is sloppily putting on a bandage). She said his arm was all big and shiny, and it got her all excited!

I thought that was funny.

Duchess wrote:
Yes Rolling Eyes I noticed the arm too when Jo was trying to patch him up! Jo did seem a little nervous--obviously she was really attracted to him. Probably wasn't too hard for Alona to pull off that bit of acting Laughing

I read st like that somewhere too. There was st about Alona Tal liking Jensen a lot, so she got really nervous when they had to shoot scenes together.

I read Jensen was moving his arm when getting ready for that one scene (when Jo is dressing up Dean's wound) and Alona went: Could you stop it, please? I can't focus. Laughing Or st like that. If it's true, it's really cute and funny.

I even read somewhere that Jensen felt very sorry for Alona because of fans' reaction to Jo.

Yes, Jensen has got a great potential, he's a fantastic actor and as he's still pretty young, I think he could get even better (which I honestly can't imagine Wink ). His performances are breathtaking and I think Jared learned a lot from Jensen too.

Ok, you just had to mention that body part, right? Razz

Well, I still think Jensen's best performance in S2 wasn't in AHBL but in WIAWSNB.

And yes, he was really great in TKAA and in BDaBR. I'm Batman! And that face. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Jensen is so great at comedy and imo, it's the most difficult piece of acting. And his facial expressions are priceless. What he can convey with his eyes and face is unbelievable.

Yes, I think ep #1 was the weakest one from those 3 but I still liked it. And # 2 and 3 were just amazing. Jensen was incredible and Jared too. He's improved again in comparison to S2.

S3 ROCKS!!!
And I'm so happy for everybody who's involved in making SN for us, fans, because there were so many negative voices about S3.

Yeah, I know. I was just responding to something someone else had said. Smile I've waxed poetic about Jensen and his extraordinary acting skills on pretty much every single thread I've ever created/responded to on this forum.

He never fails to impress me. And yes, I agree with what someone said above that WIAWSNB and AHBL1&2 were AMAZING performances. He blew me away. The depth of emotion he brings to a character, whether it's despair, anger, hilarity, smugness, whatever, is just fantastic. And I honestly think that Jared has done nothing but improve since working with him.

I have to agree on Jared really improving. Season 1 he was "good" but typical t.v. actor good. You've got to be at least decent (usually) to get a role in the first place but in Season 2, wow!

And although I do think that is due in part to working w/Jensen (from all reports he is a consummate professional and I'm sure a great example), my understanding is that Jared has an on-set acting coach. AND Jensen has made use of the coach himself! I guess no matter how phenomenal you are, you can still learn, hmmm?

Oh, definitely. No matter how good you are at what you do, there is always always room for improvement. And being professionals, why wouldn't they go looking for ways to make themselves better? Smile

I also think that working with a very close friend and a very friendly, laidback crew would make it a lot easier to focus on their work and becoming better actors. If you're going to work wishing you didn't have to spend time with somebody or spending the day stressed and unhappy, it's not very conducive to learning or giving your all.

This show has definitely been a boon for these boys. I think so, anyway.

I know, I was joking. I won't punish you. Yet. Twisted Evil

Yes, the depth and the range of emotions he can convey is amazing but I think there's more to it. He works with all his body - how he walks, how he moves, how he stands, how he talks... Mimics, gestures, facial expressions, the tone of the voice, intonation, pauses in talking... His acting is so complex and I think that's why his performances are so breathtaking. I love how he changed his voice and walking when playing Dean. You can see/hear it very well in the Gag Reel in the 'rock-paper-scissors' scene. His posture and voice change a lot when he stops being Dean.

And yes, Jared improved a lot. It may be because of new experience, of practice, of Jensen, but I didn't find his acting all that good in S1. He's grown up on me in S2 and his performances in S3 so far - brilliant!
