Wincest QuestionSo I've seen comments on other boards/youtube that the director and other crew on the show have admitted that there is an underlying of "wincest". Anyone have any links to interviews or quotes of Kripke or anyone else admitting this?
I just think it's interesting. TIA!

The only time they've admitted to knowing about Wincest and to reading some fics was at the Asylum Convention in the UK. Jensen brought up Wincest fic after somebody asked how he felt about the portrayal of Dean in fanfiction (since he's so protective of him). I think the links can be found in another thread around here...I'll look for you.

Here's the first link.
Here's the second.
I'm sorry if they no longer work. They are not mine, just links I found on LiveJournal after the convention.

Ya, they don't work.
Has Kripke or Jensen or Jared said that the show means to read more into Sam & Dean's relationship than just a loving, brotherly bond? I guess I just am suprised such a mainstream show would purposely portray undertones of "wincest". KWIM?
Anyway, I'm just super curious so if you know any other links....

No, no, no. Jensen said that some fans come up with some "rather...disturbing ideas" and then said "One of my favourites is...uh...Wincest?" And then he went on to explain that it was ridiculous, that they were brothers, and that the reason there are gay jokes in the show is to kind of poke fun at the idea as a shout-out to the Wincest fans. The show is not exploring a deeper relationship between them -- they are just brothers, and that's it. But yeah, they do know about Wincest and they do give the fans a little nudge now and again.

Gotcha! I love seeing the strong bond Sam & Dean have and the amazing chemistry Jensen and Jared have. It just bugs the ever-lovin' crap outta me that it can't be normal for 2 brothers to love each other that much and be that close w/out reading more into it.
But I'll leave that debate on the CW boards. *Laugh*

That debate, as we've seen, isn't allowed on the CW boards. It is, however, allowed here. There's a few Wincest fans here and there. This board was created for adults to share ideas where all ideas are accepted.

Love this place!
I completely get how it's totally hawt to fantasize about 2 gorgeous (do I dare say-bodacious?) guys being sexy together.
What I don't quite get is why the thought was conceived that the Sam/Dean relationship is "abnormal". Where did this thought come from? I guess because how can two related strapping young men both be so damn good to look at.

I think it's because a) they grew up isolated together and didn't have a very brotherly relationship in that they were more than that to each other, including best friends and only constant companions b) they share hotel rooms all the time c) they do not date regularly right now and Sam was celibate for a long time, and now Dean has been too d) due to the way they've always lived, their emotions and psyches are a little...they have issues, let's say e) Jared and Jensen are so close that it comes across on the screen and makes them seem REALLY close (like real brothers), like we don't normally see in TV-portrayed siblings
etc etc etc
