SOS CampaignSo we all know Kristin has the mental capacity of a an amoeba. But her campaign will generate some publicity for our beloved show if we put our pointer fingers to work and clicky clicky clicky. And c'mon who doesn't love TICKY BOXES?
Of course, while most of US aren't panicking, there are those who ARE. And this, for some unknown reason, includes The CW Source.
Yesterday they posted an article and asked fans to vouch for their favourite show. Supernatural fans PWNED BITCHES.
And yours truly was actually QUOTED in today's follow-up article. Yuh-huh. Hotness, I know.
So anyyyyway, go on over there and check them out. And drop a line to let everyone know how much you need Supernatural to function normally. It's true, after all. And honesty is a virtue.
(Thanks Cali, for the links!)

OH. WHOA. NO FUCKING WAY.
This makes me sick:
Supernatural. Kristen is more annoying than a downsyndrome kid on crack.

I hope that comment wasn't made by anyone here. For the record, that's another thing I won't accept here on this board. Disrespecting differently abled individuals, whether it's a generalised reference to a group or an insult directed toward a specific person, is SO OFF LIMITS.
I have a cousin who has developmental problems, and I know a lot of her friends have Downs. They are incredibly sweet and brilliantly intelligent in their own unique ways, and I will NOT have people insulting other people based on something they cannot help.
God. I can't believe a Supernatural fan posted that in the comments. >.<

That's exactly the kind of thing-that-makes-us-look-like-idiots I warned against in my posts about that thread a couple places, so I hope no one on the forums I go to was foolish enough to go on and post like that anyway.

Yeah I saw what you said on the CW boards.
adfkjas;dklfjasl;dkf ARG. I was so annoyed by this comment, I just had to show my housemate. We've been ranting about insipid loudmouths for the last half hour.
Siiiigh. I don't honestly believe it was anyone here. In fact, I know it wasn't. But I just wanted to use that as an example.
I'm not sure what people think they're accomplishing by saying things like that, aside from (as you said) making us look like idiots.

Well, to be fair, every fandom has it's share of idiots, and I've been in a lot of fandoms with a lot of idiots. By comparison (so far) this one is pretty tame. There's just no way to force everyone to be nice. I think (hope) that those on the receiving end of the idiots remember that you can't judge the entire fandom by the actions of a few.

I agree. Can't force anyone's hand. But really, what were they thinking posting that? *mumbles darkly* Anyway, you're right of course, and I'm sure people won't look at that one person and assume we're all idiots. It still bothers me. >.<

Yeah, if you want to piss me off, that is one way to do it. I don't tolerate that stuff in any way either. Especially since there are so many disabilities that people have (myself included) which are not visible. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard someone make a joke about mine, not knowing about me since mine is minor and I can usually hide it enough that only my family and close friends know (and not even all of them do!). I really wish this had not come from our fandom but what can you do. Like others said, not everyone plays nice.

You guys are right, people are idiots. My little brother is severely mentally handicapped, but he is the sweetest, most loving person I know. We meet people in public that treat him like his mental disability is contagious. It's so frustrating and sometimes it's hard to be tolerant of people like this. It shows their narrowmindedness and just how big an idiot they are. It's easy to make fun of those who can't take up for themselves. I'm glad you guys are willing to put your foot down and say, "no way, not here".

My favourite is the baby talk. She's 20 and people talk to her like she's 2. And they always ask "Do you need help with that sweetie?" if she's doing something as simple as opening a door. She finds it beyond frustrating.
So yes. Anyway. *cough* I love how a thread about SOS turned into a debate on appropriate behaviours. XD
