LONG ponderings/ramblings about season 3OK, just thinking about the upcoming season. Having some Supernatural ponderings.
1. Demons as protectors: So, when demons make these crossroad deals of so much time to live, does that mean only that, in that amount of time, no demons will do anything to endanger the person's life? Or is it a guarantee of that much time to live? In other words, will the person be under demon protection (demons as guardian angels! How freaky is that?!) until their time is up? Technically, they should be, I think! A deal is a deal! Not a fair deal to be "granted" a year to live, then die in a car accident two hours later, ya know? What do you think? I think it would be amazing to have a scene where Dean's life is threatened, then, surprise! A demon saves his ass! (I can hear the sexy demon's smart-assed comment at the end: "Don't worry, I'll be seein' you soon enough, Sugar!") Shock value, for sure! It'd be interesting to see Dean's reaction; to see how he handles it. Hm, if Sammy's part demon (IF!) I guess the job could fall to him (is that our loophole, y'all?); be cool to see him use his powers to rescue him, I guess. (That'd probably be used for the ultimate rescue, though. The year-is-up-in-5-minutes rescue.)
2. I think it would be amazing for the boys to meet back up with Lenore and friends. I think they could make awesome allies in the war. What with their strength and nocturnal habits, etc. I've just wanted them to become friends all along, though. (A lot of interesting stuff could come from that. I'll elaborate if anyone asks me to.) I would really think Lenore would especially have a soft spot for Sammy. He was so heroic and sweet with her.
3. So, Alona has a new show. So, probably not gonna be back. But, then, Jeffrey worked the show while juggling a couple of others, so maybe. Yeah, we don't care for her. But the guys need all the help they can get, she's got potential, hunter-wise. I say bring her back, keep her away from Dean romantically.
4. Wouldn't you like to meet more people from John's/the boys' past? Good time for it, right? Recruits for the war needed! And we've gotta know about John and Ellen's relationship, and what really did happen when her husband died. I don't care what the demon said, I can't believe John had any bad intentions. Or, if he did, he had an ultimately damned good reason. But he, apparently, never forgave himself. So, there is a huge story there. TELL IT, KRIPKE! DAMN! Unless it will fuel more John hate. In that case, keep it to yourself, Kripke! Damn!
5. I demand flashbacks this season. I hear Jeffrey's busy. Too bad. Up his pay and beg him to come back. FLASHBACKS. I want to see Sam and John's Big Fight. SO MUCH. Would be awesome to see some of the time John and Dean spent after Sammy left. I can so picture Dean's conflicted feelings toward him; so angry with him for driving Sammy away on one hand, so sympathetic to his pain over it (and why it happened) and trying to make up for one less son around on the other. Would be heartbreakingly beautiful to watch. We know Jensen would do such an amazing job. (No wonder he prefers non-heartbreaking scenes. He seems to really throw himself into them! I'm sure it is draining.) Would love to see at least one scene of one of those times Dean is taking care of his dad and brother (John was, apparently, an alcoholic. That could make for some poignancy! Wonder when he became one? May not have been too horrible of one, since he's famous as an awesome hunter. But, then, there are some high-functioning addicts). Would LOVE to see some footage of the 3 hunting together, too. (I loved watching them hunt as Winchester & Sons! It kicked ass! Even the John haters can't deny that!) Would also like some scenes that showed that, damn it, things weren't ALL bad between him and Sam! They obviously weren't! They DID love each other fiercly! It'd be nice to see some good moments! It'd be a way to meet those people from John's past, too, like the late Caleb. I know we have the comic books, but not everyone is in to comics (like me! But, dammit, I'm going to have to get my hands on these! I'll take Winchester info. any way I can get it.) and I know all fans would surely love to see some flashbacks. Or, most, anyway!
5. I don't think Sammy's powers are demonic. I think the demons wanted Sammy and/or the others because they already had them (however dormant they may have been). OK, so, they could be. But I prefer to think they're not. If the demons already had those powers to give, then they could just use them themselves! Why bother giving them to humans?! It makes no sense. I wonder if the blood they fed them was to, perhaps, try to bind those powers with . . . evil? The demon(s)? To enhance them? *shrug* *flounder* In any case, I can't deal with the thought of any aspect of Sammy's actual personality being evil. There may be an infection of evil to deal with. (And, as much as it will kill me, [sweet, sensitive, adorable Sammy tempted to be evil?! Nooo!] I do want to see Sammy having an epic struggle with giving up and in to the "Dark side." He HAS to win, of course, [he damned well better!] but I'd love to see the gut-wrenching scene(s) of almost losing. I'm itching to see Jared flex some intense, gut-wrenching acting muscle. [We got a taste with "Heart."] I believe he can do it!) Demons may use his body for evil and try to ravage his mind, but our Sammy is NOT evil, at all! So there.
6. Dean HAS saved Sammy "over and over!" I've always noticed that. (Not that Sammy hasn't saved him, too. Um, I just can't think of an example right now; help!) I'm going to have so much fun watching the turn-around this season.
That's it! Hope your eyes survived! Feel free to comment and/or add!

Interesting ideas for the upcoming season!
I would love to see what the connection between Mary and the YED was/is. If she made a deal with him at some point, what was it and why? Did she have powers herself and that is what connected her to Sam.
Would be fantastic to see some closure between John and Sam but I guess that won't be happening.
OK, so my thoughts are far inferior to your's. But I'm just so damn excited for the new season!

OK some spinoff thoughts.
I would also love to see a fight between good/evil with Sammy. Of course, not with him going too evil and hurting anyone or *GOD FORBID* Dean. But just enough with ultimately good winning out (we all know Sammy is far too caring and compassionate to ever be evil).
I loved Dean's expression after Sammy told him in the season finale that he would find a way to save him. Can't wait to see how Sammy's gonna do it! And can't wait to see Dean vulnerable and Sammy kickin' some ass!!

Yes, expression was nice! Like, "What?! He feels protective of me too?! Aww!"
Ahh, but perhaps we DO need to see him hurt Dean! Gotta admit, it'd make for some riveting TV! (I know every scene involving one of the brothers hurting the other has twisted my insides into knots. Sam shooting Dean [thank goodness just with rock salt!!!] in "Asylum" and Dean punching Sammy [Aaargh. That really, really hurt me! I understood Dean's state of mind and felt for him, but I was so mad at him!! I mean, how the hell could anyone punch Sammy?! Come on! Sammy's reaction was so perfect and sweet, and Jared just nailed it; that expression of pain mixed with love and worry--PERFECT. Jared made it very clear that Sammy was hurting more for the state Dean was in than he was from the punch! And . . . just . . . *sniffle!* ] in "Bloodlust" [one of my all-time fav. eps., by the way] for example.) AND it could be that Sammy finally gets worn down and is starting to give in to the dark side. Maybe he's starting to practice/develop those powers and, in the process, hurts Dean (maybe Dean tries to interfere and gets caught in the crossfire) . . . which snaps him the hell out of it and gives him the strength, anger and passion to fight evil again! And wouldn't we just bawl seeing Sammy undone and bawling over a hurt (by Sammy) Dean? (Not to mention the later scene of Dean forgiving him--maybe in a Sammy ["chick flick moment"] way for once? Uh huh!) Come on, now, don't fear the gut-wrenching emotion! You can handle it; you know you'd love it! (Once you stopped crying and stuff!)
Thanks for the compliment, but your thoughts weren't at all inferior! I agree with the Mary stuff, too! I don't have any worries we won't find out about that! I just can't wait!! Waiting sucks! But, hey, of course I want our guys and the other Supernatural folks to enjoy their vacation!

Addendum to protector demon thoughtsSo, watching the finale made me have to think some more about the demons-as-guardians thing. Because the YED was about to kill Dean! (Just a tiny aside: How come when John got the demon temporarily out of it's body, it freed Dean, but not Sammy? Sammy didn't pop loose from it's hold until it died! Can I call flub?) But I still say a deal made for so much life time granted seems stupid and hardly worth making (to most people, anyway; not necessarily to Dean at that point. I feel quite certain Dean would've made the deal for nothing more granted than Sammy's life). So I do wonder what the writers' approach to this will be. Perhaps only the deal-making demon (and, maybe, others of it's kind/rank) can do the protecting. They can't stand up to a higher-ranked demon. And there's nothing to prove that there wasn't a demon in the ready, about to save Dean but John beat it to the punch. I don't know. I guess the deal can simply mean that the demon who makes the deal will not endanger the person's life until time's up, and some humans are truly desperate and/or weak and/or pathetic and/or stupid enough to go for the deal, even though it is that crappy. But that just seems stupid and wrong. I mean, turning over your soul is the ultimate. As we saw from "Crossroad Blues," many people make the deals not out of true desperation (as our Winchesters did), but simply because they lust after material and/or ego-stroking things. If they have no guarantee of even enjoying the deal for a certain length of time, I wouldn't think they'd be willing to go for it! If it plays out that way, it just does, I guess. But I won't like it. It's not very intelligent.

Oh that's a totally hot storyline. Or as the season finale when Dean's deal is about up, Sam going evil to somehow save Dean (afterall Sam did say he would do *whatever* it took to save Dean). Then Dean being left with the aftermath that his brother turned evil to save him and not knowing if or how to bring him back from the "dark side". Hmmmm....

Right! I definitely see the potential for Sammy (since he may indeed not be "100% pure Samm") being Dean's deal loophole somehow. Yeah, I think we're going to end up with one hell (pun intended) of a season finale! And there'd better be more seasons afterward. I think the CW would be making a stupid mistake not to continue this show for several more years. They'd be sorry.
Know what? After this, I would actually be pleased to see the brothers not have to save each other (other than in minor, during-ghost-busting ways, ala season 1) any more for a while! It's been and is awesome, but it'll get old if they don't move on. I'll be happy to watch them get back to full-time ghost busting, with new stories and concerns. I think, realistically, if two people had to keep going through this kind of drama, at least one would eventually snap!

For the most part my take on a crossroads deal is it doesnt ensure you that amount of time it just means you will not live past that time and that they will do nothing to get you earlier than that time. you are still subject to sickness diesease getting hit by a car any natural cause of death.
i would also like to see the why and how Mary knew who the YED was because she clearly did know. Also i would like to see Jo brought back perhaps late in the season or early in the next having given her some time to become a more skilled hunter on her own.
I dont think they should spend alot of time on wether Sam is completely Sam or not, have to remeber old Yeller is a demon and lying is what they do best. It didnt have to be a darkness brought from the grave that made Sam so angry i mean at the time he had pretty much just pieced together the fact Dean made a deal. not only that i would be pretty angry at a man who just killed me when you knew he didnt reallly need to. Just my thoughts.
