Introduce yourself!I think we need a little place to say 'hi', don't you? So this thread will be used for new members to drop in and wave, tell everyone their name and anything else they'd like known about them. Cool?
I'll start.
[Edited July 25, 2007]
[Edited April 6, 2008]
My name is Sarah. I am 19 20 and finishing up my second year starting finishing up my third year at university. I study english and history. I live in Ontario, Canada and always have.
My previous/current fandom(s) include: Harry Potter where I have spent five six seven long years shipping Harry/Draco.
I read just about anything you want to throw at me in the Supernatural fandom, though if it's Wincest it's got to be really really good even Wincest that's not so great, because how else am I to find the good stuff? I always end up giving in and reading slash fic in every fandom I join, so I am guilty of being a full-fledged Wincest and J2 shipper, though I still read everything else as well (except Dean/Jo).
Anyway, you can find me on LiveJournal, or at one of the IM handles listed on my profile. Feel free to message me or add me, I do not bite unless specifically asked.

Hi Sarah!
I'm Kitty. I am English but with a total celtic (Irish/Scottish) background. I am a Manager in a company that is connected world wide and I like my job! I love Supernatural beyond all belief but recently discovered Wincest and love that too! (Well, the better written stuff - I'm a total geek for spelling and punctuation...)
I don't love narrow minded people. And hope we don't get any in here!
I love cats but that should be no surprise, given my name! I also love the sun, summer and all things spring-like.
|
Sarah

| Kitty wrote: | | Well, the better written stuff - I'm a total geek for spelling and punctuation... |
Aha! A fellow grammar...er...stickler. I'm guessing their issues with hate phrases extends to the N-word I was about to use. Alas! *is super careful*
Yes, that's what I meant by "really really good". If I'm going to read it, it better be OC, well-written and have a good background reason, you know? None of this ff.net 12 year old gay Harlequin novel crap. Too wishy washy and cliched!
Oh wow, see the only thing I like about spring is that winter is over and summer is on its way. It always smells like MUD and the temperature fluctuations are EVIL. I'm so jealous that you're in the UK. My family is Welsh, and I'm always hearing from my cousins over in Wales/England and it drives me crazy that I've never been able to go. Next summer, maybe!
|
Kitty
|
LMAO! Look, seriously with posts, I don't take any notice of spelling etc but with a Fic, it really needs to have some proper editing. I have read a fair bit of stuff recently, that has apparently, been through a Beta, but is still stuffed full of errors and I am sorry, but NO!!
I love how I can just come right out and say what I think here... right??
|
Sarah
|
| Kitty wrote: | I love how I can just come right out and say what I think here... right?? |
Yes. Right.
I agree. People who advertise themselves as betas should at least have the basics down. I myself am huge for editing. And what I send back can seem a bit daunting at times I've been told, but people come back to me because I tend to improve the product. I'm not trying to brag here or anything, just saying that I'm such a stickler for things like that that I end up going nuts.
As for people writing fic, you know what bugs me the most? People who write fics that contain NO proper grammar, punctuation or CAPITAL LETTERS. It is "I" not "i". OKAY PEOPLE? *huffs*
|
Kitty
|
Well right off the bat, we will get along!
Unless it is not okay for me to mention the commentary underneath sn4gu.myfastforum.org It ends with "By entering the forum, you agree that you are above 18 or..."
Could be my screen but it seems like there is something missing?
Scuttles to corner and waits to be chucked off...
|
Sarah
|
Great!
Nope, you're right. *sigh* I've been trying to fix that stupid thing all night. I don't know why it reads that still. >.<
|
Kitty
|
This is great!
I can stop being bugged about it and we can get along just fine!
Sorry, it is a pain in the arse for you though (and if you are having any feelings of grief about setting this forum up - you can not know the pleasure that is, being able to write the word "arse" without being censored!
You did a good thing!
|
Sarah
|
No worries, I'm not regretting it! I was just frustrated with the description. But I've fixed it now and thank you very much for pointing it out to me.
|
Kitty
|
Excellent! Yep, grown up Supernatural - loving it already! Thanks Sarah!

Re: Introduce yourself!Ok. Hello, everyone!
I'm Husitka/H/Monika. Choose for yourself. I'll be 30 in May. I'm from Europe, the Czech Republic exactly.
I joined CW boards in January this year because I discovered this unbelievable TV show called Supernatural, which is unfortunately quite unknown in my country. And as I wanted to discuss it and to talk about Jensen Ackles (my favourite actor now), I joined the CW boards and I'm so happy I did it because I found some great people there, some real friends.
I love arts (drawing, painting, graphics, singing, dancing...), music, movies, books, English, French (I teach them), comps, Internet, chatting, RPG (quite new in it but a natural ) and of course Supernatural and Jensen Ackles!!!
|
Sarah
|
Well, Monika, you sound like you'll fit right in. Be sure to start a thread in the "We Love Jensen" section, yeah? That way we can all gush about how great he is!

Well, he really is!!! I know quite a lot about actors and I think he's one of the best I've ever seen. And he seems to be such a terrific person too. I love such actors. Oh and he's the most attractive man I've seen in my life. Though it can be a bit of a curse for him (as an actor).
Oh, did you read those TIH scenes? That movie will rock! And Jensen as Priestley too! And he said in an interview that he sometimes checks CW boards!!! Oh my Ackles!!!

Yes. A scarily beautiful man. I could stare for hours. Actually, let's be honest, I do. But I agree with you -- it must be a curse to be that ridiculously pretty in a business like this. Then again, it may have worked to his advantage at times. And yes, he's a true method actor from what I can tell. He literally wears Dean's skin when he's in character, and the way he can convey a hundred words with one subtle facial expression? Guh. I'd have killed for that talent when I was a drama geek. Both he and Jared do seem like such nice, laidback guys and such hard workers. *fangirls them both*
DID HE? Awwww that's so awesome. Yes, I definitely saw the TIH sides. I cannot WAIT to see Jensen in that tampon scene. <3

HI GUYSOK so this is where I start right?
HI, my name is Heather and ........ I'm a Supernatural-aholic.
I'm 32 living in Maryland with my hubby and almost 3 year old.
I am a software tester at a small software firm. Exciting, NOT!
I LOVE Supernatural. When I first heard about this show I was so excited. Sounded like something right up my alley. I was a HUGE X-Files fan and when it went off, I was so bummed.
But now I have the X-Files with 2 hunks rather then just one. What could be better!??!?!
Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say hello!
Talk to you all soon!

It is! Welcome to the board, Heather! We're happy to have you here! And I totally agree with you. Although when X-Files was running, I was pretty young. My brother and I caught an episode once and he cried himself to sleep for a week, haha! I was a HUGE Buffy fan though. So when somebody told me about Supernatural this year, I immediately downloaded and watched the whole thing -- in a week! I have been hopelessly obsessed ever since.

Hello, Kris here. I work from home as a part-time paralegal. Have written a couple of books, both supernatural oriented. Neither are published, but have one sent off trying to get published.
I'm 35, married to a wonderful and sexy husband and two perfect angel boys (perfect only so long as you don't notice their tarnished and crooked halo and black wings! - little miniature devils in the making actually. ).
My boys watch the show with me and both of them love Dean and all his smartass-isms. I love Dean for the same reason and for all the other obvious reasons. He's too damn sexy for starters. Dean is so handsome, it's like...well..."staring into the sun". I crack up every time I think about that line in Tall Tales. Too funny, but accurate.
ThursdayWench, I love your location. You had me LOLand my boys asking what was so funny! Couldn't exactly explain that to a 9 and 5 year old.

Hi Kris! Welcome to the board!
Haha, aren't all kids that age little devils in the making? I have 10 year old twin cousins to look forward to this weekend. Oh Easter. Oh family. *flop*

OK - here I go. My name is Linda. I'm from New Jersey, am married and have 1 dog. I tend to come in a bit older than most at 48 yrs old - but I'm really very young at heart (I hope). My husband is 12 yrs younger than me, so I tend to try to stay young!
I will tell you anything! I'm a blabber mouth about myself, but am extremely tight lipped about anything told to me in confidence. I guess it comes from my job. I'm a manager in a bank, and my unit investigates money laundering. Very hush hush!
I love my husband, but will call him an asshole from time to time! Hope that doesn't offend anyone!
I'm a Dean girl, and my husband really is a bit jealous of a fictional character! I like to keep him on his toes.
God I really suck at this....

*giggling madly* All men are assholes at times, whether you're married to them or not. No offense taken!
Hey. If men can goggle at girls, we can have our Imaginary TV Boyfriends. My dad always used to say he was going to run away with Shania Twain when I was little. My mom agreed that was fine as long as she got Mel Gibson. (Ew, by the way. She's changed her mind now, I think.)
As for the money laundering...question for ya! If you found out the Winchesters were laundering money, would you turn them in? XD

Yeah, my husband totally lusts after Lauren Graham - yes, he does watch Gilmore Girls with me. It puts us in our happy place.
Hmmm.....good question about the boys laundering money...well first off they would have to have quite a bit of cash to make it "pop" as we say. I believe if they had that kind of money, they would be honest and invest wisely, and not go the criminal route.....oh hell, who am I kidding - I'm stumped! It's so much easier when the people are anonymous.
I would NOT turn them in - and knowing what they do, I'd be happy to lose my job over it! They are for the greater good after all - not their own monetary gain!
Shit, I'm such a sap for a couple of good looking heroes.

Okay, let me try this without having anybody fall asleep while reading
I'm Jasmin, Germanchick1980 on the CW board, I'm 26, married and have two little girls. I don't have a job or go to school so I have tons of time to spend with Sam and Dean all day, LOL I hope to change the job thing sometime, but before I do that I'll have to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up
Other than that I can't think of anything right now, yeah, I suck at this.
Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone and I can't wait to scoop this place out some more!

Hey again Linda <waves> We chatted before - I didn't realise you hadn't formally introduced yourself! Nice to meet you!
And hello Jasmin <waves> I recognised your CW name. Hope you like the adult version of SN fandom!
Neither of you suck by the way! Thanks for introducing yourselves.

Sarah, I live in such a way that my house backs up to 3 other houses and all of us have ONLY boys. We have 10 boys ranging from 5 to 11, so believe me, boys in particular are little devils in the making. I wouldn't trade them though. They're fun, even the neighbors' kids are fun. I get a good laugh out of the crap they come up with. And they can be very inventive. I'm just not sure how to take the giggling little girls that are already calling my house for my 9 year old. What's up with that? I don't remember giving a damn about boys when I was 9.
67impala, no offense taken here. I've been known to call my husband an asshole a time or two also. You have to call it like you see it.

I don't remember liking boys then either! As far as I remember, they still had the remnants of cooties. Then again, I've been hearing about kids having SEX at like 11. Which TOTALLY creeps me out. They haven't even really hit PUBERTY at that point. *shudders* Ew ew ew.
...and that's going to sound so scary. No worries. Those reports are few and very far between! But still. Locking them up for a few years can't hurt, right?

Yeah, that sounds really scary! Locking them up sounds great. Right now my son doesn't care about the girls. They're still irritating. THANK GOD! I'm so not looking forward to the girlfriend days. I'm going to have to get a different attitude first. I guess, I'm going to have to grow up is what it boils down to.

Oh, you don't have to tell me. We were already discussing whether he is genetically engineered or a Satan sent here to seduce people...
I think most of the time being as great-looking as he is, it's a curse because some producers or casting agents would never think of him for the role/the movie where they need an ACTOR. Just because some people can't see behind other people's looks. I'm quite sure they usually think about him as an IDOL or a SEX SYMBOL, which is a pity and a shame because they're really omitting an unbelievable talent/actor when doing so.
Of course, his looks could help him quite a few times as well. I think he was cast as Alec because of his looks in the first place. They needed somebody sexy, good-looking... It's what they said in the commentary. But then again, they already had (a great) experience with him while working with him when he was cast as Ben in DA. So they also knew how great an actor he is. BTW, I love Jensen as Alec!!! It was the first time I really noticed him. I then remembered I had seen him in Dawson's Creek too but either I didn't like the show too much, or his character in it, but I hadn't noticed him there. DA was totally different! I must admit, the first thing I'd noticed, was how extremely great-looking he was!!! And I remember me being so disappointed when he wasn't in following two episodes. But then he was back and not only he was so damn great-looking but he was a rocking actor too!!! So I fell in love with him and started looking for other projects he'd been in and that's how I had met Supernatural. But because Alec was "my first" , I still love him a bit more than Dean.
Oh yes... His facial expressions... It's unbelievable!!! I love actors who are able to say so much with one look, with one gesture, with one facial expression... And there aren't many.
Yes, he really did admit he had checked CW boards a few times in an interview. I'll try to find it and post it. I was so surprised because first he had said: No, I don't have time for it.

Oh and I wanted to ask something...
I've got a friend, she's 17 (but will turn 18 in May). Could she join? We're both LOVE RPG and we've just started one on Gaia but the problem there is everything there must be PG-13 and we'd like to add more blood and gore (maybe even more sex) to our RPG and this forum looks like a great place for it.
The RPG is called New York and this is its intro:
~
Everything started like a simple innocent game. Venial frays, hundreds of them used to happen in NY every day. But there was no winner. So a bet was born. One week later, the vampires and werewolves flooded the streets of NY. Still no winner, but Big Apple was no more the city of men - the last ones had escaped and the city was covered by darkness. It’s the year 3007 and the moon showed up his reverse face.
The leader of werewolves, sir Claw, did not want to watch any more the destruction of his famous empire, which his ancestors had built. He became old and he did not plan a bloody destiny full of distress for his only daughter. He desired peace and feared his daughter was not able to keep old borders and protect her people. So he negotiated a tryst with the leader of vampires, Duke of Gorley. They should deal face to face on the neutral land. But the destiny played its own game. The werewolves are warlike, brave and honest. The vampires despise such a character. That night, the blood had been shed, the wind had cried moaning of the ancestors, the sky had closed down and the angel of death had flown over NY, the first arrow had been shot and – the biggest battle had begun. The narrow streets were full of howls of broken souls and the air smelled like hate. The avenues slashed down by wolves' nails were matted by the shadows of vampires’ wings. The children do not write on the wall with blood any more. The balance was destroyed, those who had survived, know all this only from tales. The balance was broken. What did it all look like before That? What is reality and what is a sham? What is right and what is chaos? We teach our children to fight and hate from the very early age.
We have the only rule in our minds: Honour your race, fight and stay alive!
~
Would someone be interested in it here?

Unfortunately right on the money. Which is so ridiculous. I mean, everyone in Hollywood that they claim are "A-list" actors are all pretty damn good looking. Hopefully people he auditions for after Supernatural will be able to look at the work he did on the show, see how much talent he has and cast him for that reason.
I never really watched DA, although I've seen a few clips online. I loved him in the scenes when he first met Max and was like "We're breeding partners." And she freaked out and kicked him. The LOOK on his face like "Whooooa bitch!"

That'd be awesome! But if you can't find it, it's okay.
You know, he also mentioned when he was on Jimmy Kimmel (and don't get me started on short fucking interviews and idiotic interviewers who ask dumbass questions and women making men uncomfortable in front of an audience by implying he's effeminate when he's already PAINFULLY shy) that he doesn't really check online but that his mom does. You know, I think that's fair. I asked a younger girl (13) not to hang out here yesterday. But if your friend is going to be of age in a month, that's a little different. So unless someone here has a problem with it and would like her to wait, I would say sure.

Just saying hiHi everyone!
So glad to see others here who are older than 20-something! I'm 33 but, in many ways, much younger at heart! I'm in Kentucky (No, I don't date relatives, am not a redneck, not stupid and don't live on a farm! ), female. So, can we say "naughty" words here? In other words, words that Sam and Dean say regularly?! It's so annoying on the CW board that we can't even directly quote some of the very lines out of the mouths of CW characters! Um . . . what?!
Yes, I found my way here from the CW. A horrible site! Not the people on it, mind you, but the site itself. I'm on a 7-year-old, basic computer with dial-up so that site, with all its ads, etc., is AGONY for me! I have a feeling I'll end up here more!
Supernatural is the first show in years I've been really addicted to. In fact, I think the last one I felt like this about was Dark Angel! Hmm . . . interesting, no? I adore Jensen (well, what I know of him; you know what I mean!)/Dean! I had actually forgotten Jensen was in D.A.! Saw SN and thought, "Hm, he's gorgeous; he looks familiar!" Duh! Is it really legal to be that gorgeous? He was in the D.A. days too but now he's even more so! Damned if he doesn't seem to have a great personality too! Jared/Sam is adorable too; but I have more little-brotherish feelings towards him.
Anyway, thanks for making an adult SN site! Very cool!

Yeah that CW and its ads and censorship was a little frustrating. Figured a few of us could do with a place to talk to fellow grown-ups rather than pre-teens.
I feel the same way about Supernatural. The last show I was this addicted to was Queer As Folk (and 'was' is pushing it a little). Before that it was Buffy. So for me to sit down and watch it every week, and be this obsessed is pretty new. Usually the only fandoms I participate in are for books!
And as a note to everyone: As an english major, and a book-fandomer, I tend to write long meta blurbs. I overanalyse everything, and thrive off of really in-depth discussions about characterisation. My housemates accuse me of being a total nerd, which I suppose I am. So I'm sorry if I write an essay in response to any of your comments!

Monika: If you'd like to, you can. But make sure you put it under "Roleplaying" and then mark the thread as something like "OT - Gaia RPG" so that people know it's not an SN game. Cool? Oh, and I don't know how many replies a thread takes but try to keep it contained to one thread until you run out of room. Sound okay to you?

| Sarah wrote: | | Unfortunately right on the money. Which is so ridiculous. I mean, everyone in Hollywood that they claim are "A-list" actors are all pretty damn good looking. Hopefully people he auditions for after Supernatural will be able to look at the work he did on the show, see how much talent he has and cast him for that reason. |
Well, I hope TIH will help not only Jensen but also SN to get the credit they deserve. I'm pretty sure Jensen could compete with most actors on "Hollywood A-list" in any aspect (talent, charisma, "star" potential, personality, looks...).
| Sarah wrote: | | I never really watched DA, although I've seen a few clips online. I loved him in the scenes when he first met Max and was like "We're breeding partners." And she freaked out and kicked him. The LOOK on his face like "Whooooa bitch!" |
DA was my first "rendez-vous" with Jensen. I mean, my first real rendez-vous. Now I know I had seen him in Dawson's Creek even before DA, but I somehow had overlooked him in there.
One night, I was bored and was watching TV and all of a sudden, there was a TV show called Dark Angel. And as it was a sci-fi (I love fantasy/sci-fi), I decided to watch it. It was a S2 episode called Proof of Purchase (episode #3). And out of the blue, there was a half-naked guy with this huge muscled back and I was like: Oh my God! I want to see him from the front view!
Cut. And there was a frontal view of Jensen and I was like: Who the hell is this guy??? (Yep, I admired his looks first because I didn't know anything about him at that time.)
He was really yummy and I decided to watch DA regularly. But he didn't appear in next two episodes and I got scared that he was only a guest star. So I started browsing the net, found some DA pages and found out that his name was Jensen Ackles and his character's name in DA was Alec and that he was a series regular. So I calmed down and continued watching.
It was after Medium Is The Message (a very funny episode), I realized what a great actor he was... He and Kevin Durand (Alec and Joshua) together - pure comedic exstasy!!! I have DA S2 DVDs with commentaries on 4 episodes I think, and I remember some people speaking about Jensen's acting abilities with a deep and profound respect there.
My respect towards him grew a bit again. And then I watched The Berrisford Agenda episode. A very sad epi about Alec's past. Jensen was absolutely unbelievable there! It was right there where I learnt that he's great not just in comedy but also in drama. I think it was right here I got lost.
Then I watched TBA with a commentary because there was a scene where Jensen/Alec was playing the piano and it looked like it was really him playing, so I wanted to know... And those two ladies who were doing the commentary said that they had hired a hand double for Jensen but finally didn't need him because Jensen had learnt the two piano compositions so well, it wasn't necessary!
He had 2 or 3 days to learn those two compositions and even the composer was in awe over how Jensen played them.
I think it was the last nail to my coffin (another Czech proverb).
I fell desperately in love with Jensen. I mean the love and the respect you have for somebody so talented, so skilled, so devoted...
And then I found out that he hadn't auditioned for the role of Alec because he had already played in DA, but in S1, in an epi called Pollo Loco. He had played there a character called Ben who was evil. And that Alec is in fact Ben's twin. So I started looking for that epi and when I finally watched it, I couldn't find words. He was so great in that epi!!! And that's why when they were looking for an actor who should portray Alec, they offered the role directly to him. I also admired that everybody who was doing the commentary mentioned not only Jensen's acting abilities but also his great, friendly, down-to-earth, laid-back personality... I admit, I got absolutely lost and I knew I would admire this actor forever.
And then I started looking for other projects of his and found SN... What can I say more???
As you can see, I really really like DA and Alec, but it's just because it was my first encounter with Jensen. SN is by far the best show I've seen and Dean is one of the best TV/movie characters I've had the honour to meet.
| Sarah wrote: | | That'd be awesome! But if you can't find it, it's okay. |
Ok, here it is: The Big Secret Is Revealed
There are spoilers but in a spoiler vision, so it's up to you to decide whether to spoil yourself or not. And the part where Jensen is admitting he had checked CW a few times, is somewhere in the middle of the interview.
| Sarah wrote: | | You know, he also mentioned when he was on Jimmy Kimmel (and don't get me started on short fucking interviews and idiotic interviewers who ask dumbass questions and women making men uncomfortable in front of an audience by implying he's effeminate when he's already PAINFULLY shy) that he doesn't really check online but that his mom does. XD |
I know that's why I was so surprised at him admitting he actually had checked CW a few times.
And I was really upset about the JK interview too (short, stupid nosy questions, no SN or TIH clips, almost no promotion for them...) But I really loved Rosie Perez's question about Jensen's eyelashes because it seemed like it made him genuinely smile and helped him relax a bit...
And I must add: he handled the whole interview with a great nonchalance, he was a real gentleman, kind, intelligent, entertaining and so admirable as always. That's why I'm glad even for such an interview.
|
Sarah
|
Oh definitely. I think Jensen handled it spectacularly. It's just that first reaction to her question where his jaw just dropped and his eyes went wide and he laughed uncomfortably... I was all "Grrrr". I'm uh...a little protective?

Who doesn't want to protect Jensen? Well, I know somebody doesn't. But most of his fans do. Here, here!

Hi everyone! When I write I tend to write too much - sorry in advance!
To jump right in - I think Jensen is such a sweetheart and I would protect him! I was so mad at those interviews that would be an embarrassment if he hadn't handled them so well. I'd love to see him given a real interview on tv by intelligent hosts instead of bubbleheads.
So this is the first forum I joined but I think I'll get the hang of it. This is a much better place than the CW because of some of the restrictions there and some of the fighting and negativity was getting really annoying. I think the hiatus is messing with people's moods!
Anyway, I am 35, married with a 10 year old boy and 6 year old girl, my hubby likes to watch SN with me but gets a little jealous of how much I gawk over Sam and Dean and tell him to be quiet when they are talking, I work at a huge insurance company, am taking some courses at the local college to get my Associates degree, and I'm trying to complete some fanfiction. That's definitely it!
I've been hooked on Supernatural since I saw the season 1 preview episodes on the CW. I totally missed season 1 on the WB but made up for it by immediately buying the DVD's. Anyway, I love Jared and Jensen and think they are both extraordinary actors that will certainly have their talent recognised and become the next Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

Hey Heide! Welcome to the forum. Hopefully there won't be as much conflict here and you'll enjoy it more.
I agree it'd be great to have them interviewed by intelligent hosts. I'd love to see them on Actor's Guild. That'd make my day. Especially if they went together, because I love the way they interact!

Hi there! I'm Shannon, I live and am from the East Coast, CT to be exact and I'm 25. I'm a psyc. major and plan on being a Special Ed. teacher, or at least work in the education field. I love this show and love the actors. I think they do such a great job and this show doesn't get the credit it deserves. The creators are geniuses and I hope this show runs for many years to come. I'm also very glad there is a board like this where we can talk about the show without all the drama and girlie stuff. Thanks!

My biggest pet-peeve with the CW boards right now is that they won't let me post! The screen freezes up and typing becomes impossible. I'm just tired of it!
My second biggest pet peeve with it is how much drama there is about repeated threads and whining about spoilers and those who are worrying too much about renewal. It's super frustrating. I'm glad we all seem calm, cool and collected here and that we haven't had any issues regarding threads, etc. I think it might have something to do with our layout and the ability to lock spoilers, etc away in separate headings. Phew!
But yeah, glad you guys are pimping it out! We can always use new faces, after all.

Here's the link to the thread I just posted. It's got a summary of what's going on and a link to Fandom Wank, where you can really get all the information. It's all over LiveJournal. There's an organised effort going on to promote fandom now. There's "7 Days of Fandom Action", "Fandom Gives" and a more general movement to represent fandom in mainstream media and societal studies. It's all AWESOME. You should all get LJs and check it out/follow it/join in!

Hello, Im a newbie! My name's Amanda, 48 yrs old, and now self-employed after being down-sized and out-sourced out of a job in the health care field!! So, I'm making a living at doing my hobby and lovin every minute of it. I can stay home to work and chat on-line anytime I want.
I am usually tuned in to the Sci-Fi channel, but "Supernatural" made me change the channel because of the name alone. Now, I am so addicted and watching my s1 DVD over and over Im recording the reruns of s2 and can't believe I have to wait until Sept 11 to get my s2 DVD and s3 doesn't begin until Oct 4, OMG--WWID
I'm doing my best to catch up with you guys--will chat later

Howdy!Hi Amanda! Welcome! It has been very, very dead here lately, (seriously, has this place been abandoned?! I guess everyone's on vacation!) so feel free to post often! (Well, feel free any time, actually!)
Working at home must be awesome! You're so lucky! I can't seem to crack into that field; my requirements are too picky and I lack high speed internet and a decent computer. But maybe one day! Right now, I'm out of work (and broke and freaking out!!!), save the occasional pet-sitting gig, so have too much time on my hands; hence me posting so much! Feel free to knock me off the Queen of Blabbermouth throne!!!

No, this place hasn't been abandoned. I'm still going to take care of you guys, promise. Right now, it's really only the spoiler thread I've been updating though. After all, there's no new episodes or anything to squee over! I'm also done work at the beginning of August, so I'll have a lot more online time after that.
Welcome aboard, Amanda! Hope you'll have fun joshing around with us!

Summer can be a bore! Sorry to hear about your employment situation, Cookie! Believe me, I feel your pain! My job contract ended Sept. 23, 2006. It seems the new mgmt wanted to hire only new graduates so they could pay them starting salaries What is the world coming to? I have 25 years experience and a Master's degree, but they don't tell you these things when you're in your 20's
I am lucky to have a hobby which also is good for making money on the side -- that's what I've always done. So now, I'm going to try it full time
I can watch reruns of SN while I work, as long as I'm not using the machine. So, I watched a few today which were recorded a few weeks ago. It seems I see more depth in the show every time! I guess that's the sign of EK's genius to have several story lines running simultaneously, and weaving in and out of each other.
After watching the gag reel and "A Day in the Life of J & J", I think that was when I realized how good-looking JA is. I just couldn't see it while he was in the Dean character. Dean is a really edgey guy and I think he could totally implode at any moment. JA plays it well!

Just wanted to say hi! I go by the smae screenname over at the CW boards and ironically found this board because of one of the teens who'd been deleted.
I am a 31 year old mother of 3. 2 boys ages 7 and 3 and a girl who's 6 months.
Bascially, Supernatural is my adult time, so wow was I glad to find this place. Not to mention how glad I am you don't censor people.
I'm going to take a look around the board and get acclimated. I did read the guidelines so I'm well versed on the rules.
Thanks

Haha, hi there! Welcome to the board!
Man, I am going to get such a reputation for being a mean, scary sort of mod thanks to these kids I'm deleting. *flop* I'm nice, I promise!

Hello to SMAE!Glad to have you on line! Yes, it's great to have adult time, and now to have other adults with like interests to discuss our favorite show!
I will think about some other names for our forum, as someone suggested earlier -- Sarah, I think. "Old folks home" is definitely unique, and I'm sure no one would steal that name! A catchy name would be nice, and maybe EK and the writers and producers of SN would take notice of some of our comments.
It's nice to not have to "wade through" all the CW fan mail and read about J & J's great physiques, etc. Let's face it--they feel more like "younger brothers" to me!
Have a great day, AJ alias Duchess

A new name for SN4GU? Just means "Supernatural For Grown Ups". I stole the idea from the original HP4GU/"Harry Potter For Grown Ups" Yahoo!Group that was created back in 2000 or so. I couldn't think of anything else at the time, and it was nice, simple and to the point. But if you guys all dislike it, I'm open to ideas.
Okay. Not echoing the younger brother thing over here. *laughs* Still getting teased that Jensen is "way too old" for me by my dad. Pfft. What does he know? 10 years is NOT that big a difference. *cough* But I promise not to go "OMGZ JeNsEn is liek SOO HAWT." Because...ugh.

Sorry--guess I was thinking about the "Old Folks Home" on the CW web site. No--I like the name SN4GU, no need to change.
Sigh! Wish I was younger like you, and could have those dreams again! JA is 20 yrs younger than me (I'm 4 and Jared must be about 23 or 24 yrs younger! I have 3 younger brothers: #1 is 2 yrs younger, #2 is 12 yrs younger, and #3 is 16 years younger. So you can see how J & J fall right into the line-up of "younger brother" for me
I spent my teenage years babysitting and helping my Mom with the household. There was no social life for me until I went away to college. Needless to say, I've never had children of my own! Believe me when I say, that no matter how cute they are--guys can be a royal pain in the ass! I tend to see beyond the cuteness and charm, and see the personality instead. That's why JA & JP are such great actors!
|
Sarah
|
Hey, no, it's okay! If you didn't like the name, I'm not going to jump down your throat or sit in a corner and cry. Promise! Although...I'm thinking it'd be difficult to change the 'sn4gu' part since it's in the address.
Oh, I for sure get what you mean. I think there's a certain point in your life where it's okay to date somebody your siblings' ages or younger, but I am nowhere near that yet. My brother is 16, and the thought of dating somebody that age, despite only being 19 myself, totally makes me gag. There's a HUGE maturity gap there, and I still look at them and think "children". *laughs*
You know what? All through high school, I was so focussed on school, my job, sports and extracurriculars that I never really had a social life either. Well, I did. But it didn't include dating. And lately, my luck with guys has been AWFUL. I find a lot of guys my age are looking for a quick fix (much like Dean), but I'm looking for more than that (much like Sam -- funny that I'm more of a Dean!girl o.O). Actually, two guys I work with (both my age) asked me yesterday if I was "straightedge" because I don't like to drink and I don't have a boyfriend and I've never tried any other recreational drugs. I was pretty offended, actually. Trying to explain to them that I care about my health and have some self-respect was impossible!
