If I hear one more complaint about the following on the CW boards, I might scream:
1) spoilers
2) mirror threads
3) renewal/cancellation anxiety/bitching

Of course, now we have a NEW topic to be bitchy about over there: Jensen's dislike of Wincest.

I'd like to address that here. Everyone at the CW boards seems torn between the "Omg how dare he bash Wincest, that FAN HATER!" camp and the "Omg how dare you write Wincest, you SICK PERVERTS!" camp.
I just want to say that it's RIDICULOUS to believe that a Texan, Christian boy like Jensen would support Wincest fic. I'd also like to point out that nobody really wants the character they write/portray to be fantasized about in relation to incest. There's also the fact that he can't go SUPPORTING it, DUH. As for Kripke, he wasn't MOCKING the fans, just making fun of the idea that Sam and Dean would be like that together. And as much as that might bruise the hearts of Wincest fans out there, I'm totally fine with that. How many people can honestly say they're cool with incest, in general? I'm not talking about the exception of Wincest or whatever. I'm talking about the fact that the majority of people see incest as wrong (in one capacity or another) in real life, and that usually translates to fictional worlds.

So I can honestly say that I'm neither surprised nor hurt that Jensen, Jared, Eric, or anyone else on the Supernatural crew disapproves of Wincest fanfiction or that they make fun of it in the scripts. BIG DEAL.

As for those people out there bitching about the girl who ASKED the question, I HEARD it okay? And she asked a very good question: "You've said you're very protective of Dean as a character. That said, how do you feel about fanfiction?"
The question was not "How do you feel about those people out there who write your character into gay incestuous relationships with his little brother?"
And JENSEN was the one who brought up Wincest. He actually SAID "I've also heard of some more disturbing ideas. One of my favourites is...uh, Wincest?"
And actually, he handled it rather neutrally. He laughed, said it was ridiculous, that he and Jared had gotten a kick out of it, and that people simply tend to be extremely inventive and read into things that aren't actually present. He said quite clearly that they do NOT write that into the show, that it would NEVER actually happen in the show, and that yes, Eric does a shout-out to those who do read into it by making gay jokes in the episodes. Never once did he stand at a pulpit and cry "REPENT YOU EVIL PERVERTS!"

I'm just sick of people getting catty about it on either side. I mean, come ON people. We all KNOW that Sam and Dean aren't actually sleeping together. We all KNOW that Eric would never write it into the show. Wincest fiction is just stories. It's just fantasy. It's just people's imaginations running wild. There is incestuous fic in just about every fandom that has a set of siblings in it. I'm not sure why, but there it is. The Harry Potter fandom is OVERRUN by it. So we all need to just shut up about it, read what we want and keep our peace. That people are starting flame wars on the CW boards about one or the other camp, and dissing Jensen for disapproving of the idea, is just RIDICULOUS.

Anyway. What do you lot think? CW boards getting on your nerves too?

When I say "the boards" I was thinking of this thread where there are people comparing Wincesters to real life child molesters, etc. It's getting a bit ridiculous. And It's not just the CW that's got threads about it -- it's all over LJ too.

Maybe I should edit my comment and say I'm fed up with fan wars, not just the ones on the CW boards. The thing that's really annoying me about the CW boards are the complaints about repetitive threads, etc. I'd meant the Wincest thing in more general terms, but didn't word that very well. Smile

LOL Sarah I was just going to make a post like that. The CW board had me wanting to bang my head more than once in the last week.
All the "Is Sam really dead?" posts were driving me nuts. I mean, c'mon are people really that dumb or do they just not wanna use their brains? It's kind of obvious that he has to come back.
Same with the " Is SN getting cancelled ?" posts. Seriously, if you don't know how to read and understand "We won't know anything until the 17th" I'll be glad to help you learn how to read a date and a calendar! Wink

Now here are my two cents about the Wincest thing. I personally don't like it and I think it's just wrong. Does that mean I think the people who write it are perv's? No way, it's their fantasy. I don't agree with it and I don't read it-end of story. I'll never get why people have the need to try to make everybody agree with their point of view. Some people like it, some don't, let it go!!!
Then there's the whole Sam vs. Dean thing. What's going on with that? I get how the whole pre-nom-emmy thing is disappointing for Jared fans, but nobody really knows why Jared wasn't part of it, maybe he didn't want to? Maybe he didn't think his work was good enough yet?
I kinda feel that everytime there's a more Dean centric eppy a couple of Sam fans go nuts over it and start yelling on and on about how it's the Dean show now and how they won't watch it anymore Rolling Eyes

Do us normal fans a favor and STFU!!!
It's a show about two brothers. I think it has a great balance and from time to time there'll be an eppy that centers more around one brother. What's the big deal? Get over yourself and get a life!!!

Okay so the Wincest stuff. I have to admit, I have read a couple, just to see what the fuss was about, didnt like it so I dont read them anymore.

I guess with our fandom, people tend to hold it close and stick up for it not matter what happens. I agree with Sarah when she said that stuff about Jensen, I have also heard that stuff and okay it is kinda creepy knowing that that stuff is written about you or the character you play, but no where did he say that it was wrong *shrugs*

Oh and the repeatitive threads *yawn* its mostly noobs that do it, and well you gotta cut then a break, because reading back so many pages would do ones head in. No matter what forum you are on, things will keep getting brought up whether we like it or not *sighs* its just part of the big wide world and we have to put up with it, although I do wish I had a magic key that with one click everything disappears Laughing

I just noticed another thing while I was over there. I find it rather funny when people post on threads to let them die already. Don't they know that everytime they post to it it gets bumped up?
It can be 5 pages back and then the same people who keep saying to just let it go or die keep posting on it and bringing it back to page 1. I mean, if you're gonna do that, people are going to post on it because it's there, double DUH!!! Rolling Eyes

Maybe I have issues, LOL but dumb people really piss me off!

So, when did this question get asked of and answered by Jensen? Let me guess, this is another video interview, which means I'll never get to know about it. *SIGH*

I hardly ever visit the CW board anymore because my computer and ISP can't handle it. It takes for freakin' ever to load the pages, so it's just so time consuming and frustrating I can barely ever force myself to endure it. And there doesn't seem much point, usually. The threads tend to be so immature (*ahem* Guess that's one reason I like it here so much!!) and, often, have nothing to do with the show. Also, I LOATHE how there's no search feature for past posts. That means you have to painstakingly search through page after page (And I can't get over how very many posts there are every day! From one hour to the next, the front page can look totally different! In a day or two, a thread can be buried! I can't hang!) to find posts you want. When you're on dial-up and using an over 7-year-old computer, it's just not worth it! I wish the 'net didn't just assume everyone has modern equipment and high-speed; we, uh, financially challenged folks like the 'net too!

Anyway, I didn't know anything about any of this stuff. I'd love to read a transcript of that interview, if there is one!

I'm not surprised if Jensen isn't exactly in to the Wincest stuff. I mean, it's incest! MOST people aren't into that! It's OK if others want to fantasize that way, even though I seriously don't get it! But that's OK, to each her or his own. Live and let live, etc.! I'm assuming Sarah's summary of what he said to be pretty much all he had to say about it. According to that, I don't see why fans would be offended. "Boo hoo, someone in the world doesn't like what I like! Waaaa!" Sheesh! We're all entitled to our own opinions, even celebs!
