I'm posting this in the OT section so that rants can be whatever people want- about supernatural or something else.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm getting SUPER TIRED of fans that come online and post spoilers without warnings! The CW board isn't quite as bad as it used to be for this but there are a few others I go to where fans still spoil even after repeated warnings and FULL KNOWLEDGE that spoiling is just plain rude. Sorry doesn't cut it, people should start getting BANNED from the boards for spoiling and then maybe they'll start remembering to post warnings! Moderators need to consider making an actual no-spoilers rule and following the rule up with a ban, because it drives people away from their forums. Not only are spoilers ruining the surprise of future episodes but they are destroying other fans' fandom experience!

I remember my worst experience with spoilers. It's not SN, but still. I wanted to read some book review for Harry Potter, I found one in a very serious site and there was mentioned the whole end of the book including who was going to die. *I don't want to be concrete 'cause someone may want to read it* I was really snarky. Mad I would never read reviews again. I hate spoilers since that as much as I can. Exclamation

Spoilers really are a serious menace! Why people have to be so careless and inconsiderate I can't imagine. Even the sticky on the CW is only a polite request - not an instruction.

I feel sure that if there were repercussions for spoiling, it would drastically cut down on the extent of the problem (though not fix it completely, as newbies are always going to get themselves in hot water by not reading threads and stickys before initial posting).

There also appears to be some confusion as to what constitutes a spoiler! To me it is absolutely anything and everything - so, sadly, even on here there is one (albeit very minor) on a non-spoiler thread...

Other people are not too worried about knowing minor details. So where do you draw the line?

I think sometimes it can be hard to draw the line. I think everything, no matter how small, about an eppy that hasn't officially aired yet is a spoiler.
I really wish people would be more considerate when it comes to that stuff.
Now what really drives my nuts about the CW board is that people just keep making the same threads over and over instead of checking if there's one with the same topic already. I'm so tired of finding at least one "Is SN cancelled" thread, or 5 "How did you like tonights eppy?". I mean they make a sticky for you to post how you liked the eppy, why do people feel the need to clutter up the board with countless more every week? Rolling Eyes
I know it moves fast, but is it really that hard to go back like 5 pages and see if there's a thread with whatever you were gonna post already?
I'm so sick of reading the same question or topic over and over.
Woot, I feel better now Very Happy

Nice rant Jasmin! And I totally agree with you about the proliferation of identical posts! It is aggravating beyond words! The other pet peeve of mine being the hundreds of "Who is hotter" polls - who bloody cares!

I have to be evil here and suggest that apart from the bone idleness of some people in not looking to see if there is already a post, I believe there is an element of egomania at work too. Some people seem to feel that posting threads on anything and everything and counting the replies is a way of measuring their popularity. There - I said it and I am not sorry! Cool

Jasmin, I totally agree. After WIAWSNB aired, I went onto the CW boards and counted 5 threads asking how people liked the episode and another 3 solely dedicated to Dean's lawn mowing scene. I was like *flop*

As for spoilers, I personally love them. I want to know just about everything. It really gets me revved up for an episode when I know a few little tidbits here and there. But I know a lot of people HATE them. That's why I specifically made a Spoilers section here. That way those who want to be spoiled can and those who'd rather not, can avoid it. Is that working for you guys, by the way?

When I do steel myself up to go to the CW site, it's to get a general idea of how well received an episode was. They have the sticky thread called "What did you think of last night's episode?" or however it's worded. But the point of it is to watch the whole thing first, then give your review. I just HATE the posts where someone comments on the eps. scene by scene! Oh, they're SO irritating! It's like having someone babbling to you while you're trying to watch the show!! I don't need to hear people's every thought and feeling on every single moment of film and line spoken! It's, as I've mentioned, so difficult for me to navigate that site anyway, and I'm looking for good, solid, proper reviews and, instead, I get page after page of "HA, Dean's so funny! Oh, watch out, Sammy! Duuude, that thing's seriously fugly!" AAAAARGH!!

I'm not trying to be mean; I'm sure these people don't realize it's so annoying. They're probably young teens/preteens. I wouldn't want them to have hurt feelings about it, which is why I've never posted directly to them about it. But I just wish they could realize how annoying it is; esp. for us dial-up folks! Who really reads those?!! People, just post a solid, normal review! A summary, if you will. It would be much appreciated!

I'm so glad that I didn't even have to suggest that kind of format to you guys. We all just sort of...fell into that pattern. It makes me super happy. LONG LIVE LONG, SOLID DISCUSSION!

*loves on you all*

Agreed. You guys post pretty. (There's some down-home, improper grammar for ya! Fun!) I have yet to read one irritating post here! Smile
