Basically, the AMPTP (the studios and bigshot corporations) wouldn't give the WGA (writers' guild of america) what they asked for when their contracts came up for negotiation in October. The writers had to go on strike until they get what they want. The AMPTP is still refusing to budge on things like DVD and internet royalties, and are essentially screwing the WGA members up the asses with a wire toilet brush. So the WGA keeps leaving the proposals on the table and going back to their strike. I cannot stress how much this is NOT the writers' faults. They deserve to be paid for writing our favourite shows and movies. Unfortunately, the studios are all $_$ dollar signs for eyes.

Also unfortunately, if the strike isn't over and the writers aren't in negotiations with the AMPTP by January, every scripted show on television right now will end up short-seasoned. When they went on strike, they had to put their pencils down and not write anymore (including making changes to scripts) which is why the studios had to shut down filming and why we're running out of episodes. If they can't start filming again by February, they have to stop altogether and pick up again in the summer for the next season. So we'll end up with 12 episodes. Other shows, even less.

This is made worse by the fact that the actors' contracts come up in the summer and they might have to go on strike as well.

The actors and pretty much everyone else in North America are 100% behind the writers. And the writers will be 100% behind the actors.

Until all this blows over, reality TV will take over because those aren't officially "scripted" shows. Which means that the studios are sending TV even further into the sewers and if they don't stop kissing their own asses soon, TV might be fucked for good because shows will get cancelled due to inability to write/film, loss of writers/actors/directors, and loss of interest due to the long hiatus.

You can say that again.

Btw, (I'll put this in spoilers, too) the 3x08 preview clips are up on Seat42f's homepage. THREE OF THEM!

Well, the strike it's over. Will they have time to shoot more episodes?

Hi, tatis98,

I just read somewhere on this board that we're getting the rest of the eps. in, like, April?  I forgot who posted it and where they put it; maybe in the thoughts on latest episode thread?  So, rejoice!! Smile

We should be getting 3-4 more episodes, according to Kripke. They'll air through April, possibly May (depending on when they return). We have two pre-strike eps left, tomorrow night (YAY) and next Thursday. Then it's Reaper reruns. REMEMBER NOT TO WATCH THOSE!
